Before getting my first camera 10 years ago I would "shoot" with pencil and paper. Born and raised in Slovakia drawing was always far more accessible than photography. It was only after moving to NYC and getting my first camera that I was able to fully explore this new medium and I fell in love. Drawing and sketching have had a deep impact on my work as it has given me tremendous appreciation of shadows, posing, and composition that I may not have gotten without this experience. Although I still love drawing, photography is my true love. My interests are varied and include street photography, landscapes, and portraits although I also do plenty of red carpet / celebrity work as well.
I've been published in National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times, and countless other publications both print and digital. Professionally, I shoot mainly advertising and my images are licensed via Getty Images and video via Shutterstock and Pond5 for advertising and editorial use around the world: Rosetta Stone, Hearst, RealSimple.com, About.com, Google Play, Conde Nast Digital, Publicis, The Vanguard Group, NBC Universal Digital, Allianz SE, Microsoft Multimedia Publishing, Discovery, Ogilvy & Mather, FIAF, Human Rights Watch.
Now that I live in California / Costa Rica I've traded my street shots for surf shots but continue shooting portraits and lifestyle photography.
